Not sure if we are anything like that. I assume that their site is
local to the church sponsoring it. And (this is total assumption) is
useful for approved types of events only. But it might be totally
rad, too.

The big gap we see in all these new (and in many cases, awesome) location aware networks is they only show where you are currently and maybe where you have been. We want to show where you plan on going as well. And not just show that there's a bar on the corner down the street, but happy hour starts in 30 minutes and there's half price pints. Finally FMNT will, over time, learn your tastes and help filter results to tailor what you enjoy doing.

This is an extremly ambitious project and I am glad that Chattanooga talent has finally taken the initive to push things forward in the scenic city. I can't help but be reminded of MetroMix.com but for smaller cities and on a grander scale when I think about this.

I am very excited.

I <3 Chattanooga. There's such a strong concentration of brilliance in such a tiny little area. Not more than 9 months ago did I start toying around with the very same general concept, though not on such a scale. It was going to be my first foray into WAP and be entirely cell based. However, getting married slowed that project to a halt before it ever really took off. I'm glad to see someone else local to Chattanooga is taking the same idea to fruition. Keep up the good work (and try to keep Strat in line, will ya?)!

Dryan ... I, too, am spending about 26 hours per day imagining what Web 3.0 might look like -- that ephemeral expanse of incredible ways to more precisely interconnect when we realize that blogs and Google Calendars just don't cut it. Luckily, you have other geek friends to bounce ideas off and bunker down with.
This comment is a simple expression of intense jealousy (my friends only know how to logon to the interweb).

As someone who is privvy to many of the "brainstorming conversations" described above, I have to say that this is one of the more exciting ideas to take hold. I toyed around with FMNT yesterday, and I quickly realized how useful it could be - especially once there's a body of users in a particular community. Best of all, it's easy-to-use for dummies like me. Very cool.
